Lois Reese
Recognized by the Virginia Symphony as one of Hampton Roads' top 30 Music Educators in 2015, Lois has a vast musical background. She has been a church music director for over
30 years; leading singers, ringers, and world drummers of all ages. More than half of her career has now been spent at Hilton Presbyterian Church, the home of High Notes Music School. While living in West Point, NY she had an active private music studio, became an opera singer, and began teaching at a parochial school. When moving to Virginia 18 years ago, she focused on classroom teaching which lead her to become certified as a MusikGarten teacher and achieved Level 3 certification in World Music Drumming. After 20 years in the classroom, she decided to open her own music school. She has been a presenter for VA Wesleyan Summer Church Music Conference, Massanetta Springs Worship and Music Conference, and Handbell Musicians of America on the national and regional levels. She is also an accredited instructor for the Handbell Musicians of America, has sung for Virginia Opera, plays in and has directed the Virginia Handbell Consort, and has sung with the Virginia Symphony Chorus. Most recently she has added certification from Village Music Circles and Jim Donovan as a drum circle facilitator. When not teaching music she teaches water fitness. You can find her in the pool at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center in Newport News, the YMCA Health and Wellness Center in Hampton, and the Victory YMCA in Yorktown.
